Faith on the Go! Jesus True Bread

Supplies Bible, Cross, Candle 

InstructionsModify these to meet your family’s needs

    1. Choose a family member to be the Leader this week. You can have a different leader each week!
    2. Gather in a place you can all sit and see each other. You can even change where you meet each week!
    3. Place a Cross, Bible, and Candle in the center.
    4. Light the candle & take some deep breaths. Focus on the candle to prepare for your time together.

 

Share… Share what you are feeling and experiencing this week

  • How are you feeling today…
  • How did you encounter Jesus this week…
  • What challenges did you encounter…

 

Read…  Read the scripture together

John 6:51-58

Animated Bible Story

 

Talk /Journal… Discuss or journal about the following questions

  • What is your favorite part of the story? What challenged you?
  • What did you hear or learn that you didn’t know before?
  • What do you think Jesus means by flesh and blood?
  • Why do you think the Jews had problems with what Jesus was saying?
  • How can this life we receive make us different in the world?

 

Pray… Choose a family member to pray or pray together the following prayer

Bread of Life! Thank you for my life. Help me to fill up on what is good and then share that goodness with others. Amen.

 

Bless… While making the sign of the cross on each others forehead or hand say

(Name), Child of God, you have been filled with Jesus. Go and share the bread.

 

Optional Activity:

Daily Bread Boxes

Supplies: Small take out or tissue box, markers, paper, strips of paper, pens, (other decorations optional)

Instructions:

  1. Cover box with plain paper & decorate as desired
  2. Place box in a common area
  3. each day during the week have each family member write on a slip of paper a way they received life this week as a way of seeing Jesus at work in and around us.

Examples:

    • something that inspired them
    • something that gave them purpose
    • something that made them say wow
    • a way in which a need of theirs or others was met
    • a challenge or struggle (we find life in these too)
    • how they helped or were helped by others
    • etc.
