Help Our Brazos Valley Community Recover!

All Supplies/Resources Are Desperately Needed

Drop Off At Peace Lutheran Church Now!

Lenten Blessings,

We hope everyone is staying warm and finding their power and water restored during this unprecedented week of weather and human need here in our state and community.

Many of the local groups who gather and distribute resources to those in need have seen their goods depleted plus frozen pipes and community water distribution have greatly affected people’s basic need for water for daily use.

For now, we are asking for people to help us provide the most basic and urgent things meant to serve the immediate needs of our community as for some, they have not had power or water since Sunday.

Peace Lutheran will serve as a drop-off and distribution center for these resources that will be gathered and distributed by other groups that are coordinating the effort.

As we learn more about the overall damage and long term/ongoing needs, we will send more updates on how we can best serve our community.

The grocery stores have been plucked dry – think TPocalypse 2020 – and even those who are able to get out are having difficulty finding these items.

Please help if you are able and following is a list of the most requested items currently needed.

  • Water
  • Water hauling containers (empty milk jugs, etc.)
  • Milk – even powdered
  • Eggs
  • Meats
  • Bread
  • Baby/toddler items to include baby formulas, baby food, baby and toddler snacks.

These items are difficult to find and we are asking that if you have extra or are able to find some in stores such as Dollar Tree, Dollar General, Walgreens, CVS, even gas stations are good places to look, that you be willing to share and donate.

Once we’ve met the immediate needs of water, food, and warmth, the work will continue as pipes continue to thaw and flood homes.

If you are able or would prefer to make monetary donations, please make a note of “defrosting Brazos” on any check or other type of donation.

We realize this will be an ongoing effort and it will take all of us coming together as a community.

This is why we are here, as it is when we act on the teachings of Christ that we show them we are Christian’s by our love.

Keep these words close in your heart:

Matthew 25:35-40for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, 36 I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me.’ 37 Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when was it that we saw you hungry and gave you food, or thirsty and gave you something to drink? 38 And when was it that we saw you a stranger and welcomed you, or naked and gave you clothing? 39 And when was it that we saw you sick or in prison and visited you?’ 40 And the king will answer them, ‘Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.’

Hebrews 13:1-2  Let mutual love continue. 2 Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by doing that some have entertained angels without knowing it.

Peace,
