Light of the World: A Beginners Guide to Advent

The Early Bird Sunday School Class for Advent 2020 will be November 1 through December 20 from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. every Sunday morning and will be led by Steve Gossett via Zoom.

This study is by Amy-Jill Levine and is a wonderful look at the texts surrounding the story of the birth of Jesus.

Join us as we trace the Christmas narratives through the stories of Zechariah and Elizabeth, Mary and the journey to Bethlehem, and the visit from the Magi.

These stories will open conversations around connections of the Gospel stories to the Old Testament, the role of women in the 1st century Jewish culture, the importance of Mary’s visitation, the revolutionary implications of Mary’s Magnificat, the census, the stable, the Star of Bethlehem, and the flight to Egypt.
